Clannad is not your typical anime that came from a manga, this show came from a visual novel for PC way back in 2004. Apparently, it was a massive hit at the time gaining traction from anime studios and even manga publishers.
I have too many doubts that this show will be this good, this is even though all the non-spoiler reviews recommends it, this is even though the top 10 lists of animes include this. I guess, you just have to experience it to see it yourself, to feel it yourself.
Here we follow the story of our protagonist, Tomoya Okazaki, as he journeys through his life from a young student transitioning to being a member of society as an adult. And no no no, don't be fooled by the official poster, this is not your typical harem anime. This is more than that, it's way more than that.
I have so many thoughts running in my head trying to describe this. We listen to heartwarming music, every piece is a perfect fit for every scene. One word: Masterpiece.
I know that I've said this before, but these anime recommendations are surprising me, it's getting better and better as I sliced through those series. Clannad is just a Slice of life anime with sparkles of drama, love, and friendship. It has a little bit of everything.
You're talking about a family, love triangle, sports, actions, gangs, divorce, death, and mourning. It talks about self-pity, self-blame, and uncertainty.
We are introduced to easy-to-love characters, we have perfect pacing for its kind, and despite being a slice of life, its plot is interesting. What a great backstory for every character, even the side characters.
There's a little supernatural part it's subtle and timed perfectly for its scene, the interesting touch of mystery makes you really curious as the time passed by.
It has a fascinating perspective about dreams, we usually go for our dreams, but have we thought about the dreams of our parents? How do they achieve them? Or have they? What happened? What are the sacrifices made? This question will make sense once we watched the specific arc for this.

Season one is already great. But the second season elevates everything, Clannad: After Story is a hilarious continuation of the original series. I say this probably because I'm already familiar with the characters and their stories and I'm actually invested in them.

We will be presented with dealing with death, uncertain? Possibility? How do we face it? How do we settle conflicts and misunderstandings?
As corny as it may get but watching this show is like being with genuine friends, episode per episode, it makes you invested with them and apparently care how they're doing with their life.
It's captivating that I get so interested in the simple plot that tackles real-life experiences like giving birth, being a father, having friends, family and even getting sick. It's a normal thing for a person, we encounter them ourselves, we hear about them through our friends and yet, this anime strikes to where it hurts the most, where it touches our hearts deeply in simple ways.
Few more things, the animation is nice and crisp.
The music is perfectly integrated into every scene.
The cinematic scenes are underrated, to be honest.
The first few episodes might seem slow but it's already interesting that you will stay. You may want to wait a little more because it gets better and better. And if you like the first arc? Man, you're on a hell of a ride! Enjoy every moment and shed those tears without shame.
This show made me cry massively, so far, no other anime made me cry this much, this is a rare and massive 10/10!
We take life for granted. There are times that we appreciate everything that we have and times that we just hated the world. We are sometimes in a world of dishonesty, but we also lived in truth. It's a balance, it's odd but we are in both worlds, we, in fact, live in one world. We encounter all kinds of things.
The show made me realize that we should feel things more.

The affection of the love of your life
The hobbies that made you smile
The stories that made you cry
Life can be just a total mess but it is truly beautiful. Look at the people around, listen to their stories, and open up your eyes to the things around us. We are creatures that have been touched by people and their stories. We are created to tell a story and to feel things.
