In June after dark

A little busy this month but only a little. We had our first flight in 3 years. It's a local vacation only and the farthest we've been in the Philippines, in Davao. We were welcomed by our relatives there. 

Here's a short recap:

I don't have that much of picture since it's a vacation for the elderly. We just enjoyed the journey we're on. We are together with my Batangas relatives and both our families. 

A simple celebration of Father's Day. We attended the Sunday service and ate at Qusina in Festival Mall.

 

To end the month, we had a quick "Team building" - more like a meetup at Okada, again and we just ate and that's it. :D

My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 is a cute anime about 2 gamers. The show is slow and sweet. I enjoy it and am excited to see the next episodes. I followed this from the day of release and waited for it on a weekly basis. 

I love how they tell the story while including some gaming aspect - while the gaming is on the title, you won't feel that it only revolves around gaming. The gaming aspect is just a channel where our protagonists met. 

The only reason that I watch this is due to the opening theme, it is sung by KANA-BOON ft. Yuho Kitazawa of the peggies, since I'm a huge fan of the Peggies, I always consider the animes that they are part of and this show is one of the animes that I really enjoy. 

As I said, the anime is cute. It's really nice that the show really slows down during specific scenes. They include the dreamy effect that you can also see in the anime poster. It is a genius little addition and it's effective, you will really feel the emotions in those scenes which makes this show one of the good ones. 

Hopefully, there's a season 2. If there's none, I'll just hop into the manga. I heard the manga is now spicy.

This anime is not on my watch list until recently. I stumbled upon an anime podcast and they said that this show is probably one of the best - of all time. 

The anime is a stranger to me. Never heard of it until that time. Since I don't have any anime to watch yet, I ignore my watch list and set this as my priority. Man, this is really good. 

The show is about the journey of a boy in a messed-up world during the war. You could imagine the fear and the gruesomeness of the theme and the anime did very well in telling us probably a really accurate representation of the war. 

The overall theme of the show is revenge. While there are some slow episodes, I can honestly tell you that it took me more days than usual to finish the anime because it seems like there's no happening, I'm talking about the second season. The first season is full of fights and incredible battles. But season 2 is about development, and they took time developing our hero.

It is well written, and it will all make sense to the end. 

I really like lots of elements in the show, I appreciate the incorporation of belief - particularly Christianity. I'm really impressed by how they portray bible verses in different situations and the response of the people is really accurate. Not all will appreciate the bible, but there are people who religiously read it, there are those who interpret it wrongly and there are also people that listen from afar and believe in it. 

From the start, we were introduced to the theme of the show.  It swayed to different paths but little did we know that it will lead us back from the start. 

What an anime.

Dororo has been on my watchlist for a while, I don't even remember where this recommendation is from but the review was amazing, so I added it to my list. 

It's really fast to pick up the anime when you started it. While watching, I saw some similarities with a classic anime favorite, Inuyasha. Probably because it is set in the Feudal Japan period and there are monsters as enemies. Ugly enemies that do not really memorable. 

Dororo is a remake of the original series of the same name. Adapted from the manga series by Osamu Tezuka, creator of the famous Astro Boy. 

Here, we follow the story of Dodoro and Hyakkimaru in the journey of defeating demons and finding Hyakkimaru's body, while uncovering the mystery of his condition. We ride along with them witnessing some brutality of the past, from wars, revenge, prostitution, and sacrifice. 

This show is dark. 

It's an interesting watch. Definitely should be on your watch list.

Lycoris Recoil is about Japan's secret agents. They are the ones responsible for the peace that Japan is experiencing, they eliminate threats with grace and discreetness. We watch the story of tragedy, redemption, and value. 

We follow 2 of the main characters, Chisato and Takina, which have amazing dynamics even from the start. Different people with different stories and values. 

The show's theme is a slice of life, which is accurate, but there are also action scenes that are well integrated. It's no wonder that this anime won Crunchyroll's Best Original Anime of the Year in 2022. 

I regret watching it this late but it's worth watching it now. The concept is interesting, and while I wish they explore more of their adventures while undercover, the overall experience is outstanding. 

I love how they focus on the job of the girls, of how skilled they can be. 

The build-up is smooth, the pacing is great for a Slice of Life anime and I'm already looking for a figure.
