My Dress-Up Darling

My Dress-Up Darling
12 Episodes
Duration: 23 min/ep
Theme:  Comedy, Ecchi, Romance, School, Seinen, Slice of Life
Rating: ★★★★★★★★☆☆

I judged too early. This show has been trending since the start of the year as it premiered. The title seems odd to me and I just didn't pick it up. Until it manifested in me. One day after my shift, I decided to give it a try, well, it's a pretty short one and I got really curious.

Now, I can't stop watching. It's nice, it's about a boy who makes Japanese dolls and a girl who wants to cosplay. They have the dynamics, really nice chemistry, and fan service and there's another waifu in town.

The story is well-directed. It's simple but it contains unique elements that made the show really good. I enjoy it as it gives us some idea about cosplay and costume design.

No Game, No Life

No Game, No Life
12 Episodes
Duration: 23 min/ep
Theme: Adventure, Comedy, Ecchi, Fantasy, Parody, Super Power, Isekai, Magic
Rating: ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆

Here's another Isekai. This time, it's about gamer siblings who were transferred to a world that's decided by games. In the first episode, all I can think about is the show's potential. They even have this interesting list of rules for participating in games. Which is a really nice plot point.

They stay faithful to that rule but it's kinda underwhelming for me. There are too many cringy sexual jokes, it just really landed badly - it's bearable tho. The show is fine. Not as good as the reviews I saw online - it's dragging at times but it can be managed.

The ending is a huge cliffhanger, with no assurance of a second season but I'm okay with it.

"There is no such thing as luck in this world. Rules, prerequisites, psychological states... there are any number of invisible factors that combine to produce an unpredictable, but inevitable result. The winner of each game is decided before it even begins. Chance is never a factor."

- Sora

Should you watch it? Sure?

Cyberpunk Edgerunners

Cyberpunk Edgerunners
10 Episodes
Duration: 25 min/ep
Theme: Action, Drama, Psychological, Sci-Fi, Space
Rating: ★★★★★★★★☆☆

Netflix did it again. They animated and serialized the game Cyberpunk 2077. I always have second thoughts about watching Netflix animes for some reason.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners peaked during its release last year and upon watching it recently. I can say that it's mesmerizing. The story is not rushed for a 10-episode anime. A really futuristic concept and the colors are beautiful.

The concept of building your own body from metals to gain some power. Sign me up. But what's really interesting is how they portrayed the installment of those powerups. It's gonna hurt for sure.

I don't have much more to say because there's so much happening in the anime and it's enjoyable. They deserve to win the anime of the year in last year's awards.

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World

Re: ZERO -Starting Life in Another World
Season 1: 25 Episodes
Season 2: 13 Episodes
Season 3: 12 Episodes
Duration: 29 min/ep
Theme: Re: ZERO -Starting Life in Another World
Rating: ★★★★★★★★☆☆

This anime pops up every now and then. This is one of those animes that you haven't watched yet but you know the characters and I gotta be honest. I started watching this because of the massive figure collection of Rem and Ram. Why are they loved this much?

While those 2 are the best girl by fans, I really like Emilia's design.

So I dig in and enjoyed the ride. The episodes are long - this show has 29-minute episodes and they overlay the credit on the ending just to fit the story. But we're not talking about that.

We talk about the genius behind time travel and an isekai anime. We usually witness this on separate animes but not this one. Re: ZERO capitalize on the return by death concept where you can go back in time after you died.

It's a videogame concept, it's their version of the checkpoint and It's interesting. They draw the good juices from the concept and applied it really nicely to the anime. While our main boy Subaru is quite annoying, he has a good cast around him.

Subaru Natsuki is not your typical main character with strong powers and all of that. He's a typical guy with really weak traits compared to those around him. His strength is beyond physical abilities, it's the Return By Death power.

Imagine going back in time and experiencing some horrible deaths and situations. Imagine how your mental state will handle everything.

Anyway, the story is really nice. While it got slow in season 3, you'll still be asking for more.

Tokyo Revengers 2

Tokyo Revengers 2
12 Episodes
Duration: 23 min/ep
Theme: Action, Drama, Romance, Shounen, Supernatural
Rating: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆

I always forgot how good Tokyo Revengers is. Maybe I'm overwhelmed with One Piece while this show is on a weekly release. But, I regretted not watching season 2 during the airing.

This show is good. It has all the elements we all love. The time travel, Takemichi's endless beating, and overcoming obstacles. While we do not see plenty of back and forth from present to past, it's quite enjoyable. I'm interested in each character's development and Mickey's in Manila. Let's go!

I'm really looking forward to the next season.

Mob Psycho III

Mob Psycho 100 III
12 Episodes
Duration: 23 min/ep
Theme: Action, Comedy, Parody, Psychological, School, Shounen, Slice of Life, Super Power, Supernatural
Rating: ★★★★★★★★☆☆

Mob Psycho is one of those anime you want to watch to relax and just not think about anything. It's not like Naruto and One Piece that you have to review and invest a lot.

He's an OP main character with a simple yet lovely design. This season is apparently the last season and I enjoyed it so much. I love how the show progresses and sticks to the arc. I enjoy how they go back from an earlier villain, I'm fascinated by how they show how powerful Mob is and I'm fond of Reigen despite his manipulative behavior. This guy really cares for Mob.

While it's sad that this anime has come to an end. It's really satisfying. There's no big reveal, it's quite predictable but it's well-orchestrated.

Don't do it, Mob. You're the one who's going to suffer in the end. When things go south, it's okay to run away! - Reigen

One Piece

So, I just caught up with One Piece. I failed to finish the anime due to the terrible pacing but I caught up with the manga.

Again, the anime has terrible pacing - you'll be watching characters running for several minutes before they reached their destination. Well, the manga is pretty long but has an amazing pace. I wish I learned this sooner before watching 700 + episodes.

One piece contains the following arcs, all of which I enjoy in their unique way:

East Blue Saga

This arc is nice and simple. It's an introduction to the crew.

Rating: 7/10

Arabasta Saga

This is where you can see a glimpse of how crazy the One Piece world is. We also have a strong villain that has a different type of Devil fruit. This is probably one of the first long arcs. The ending is really nice.

Rating:  8/10

Sky Island Saga

The Straw Hats pirates' crew is not just on the sea. We journeyed with them up in the heavens, in the Sky Island. I really appreciate Oda in this arc, he portrayed really well how crazy the One Piece world is. I love the build-up and how the antagonist put doubts on our heroes when it comes to Sky Island and One Piece itself.

Rating: 8/10

Water 7 Saga

This is one of the beautifully designed islands. One of the goose-bumping and emotional arcs. I really enjoy the crazy character in Sogeking and the mystery and development of Robin.

Rating: 9/10

Thriller Bark Saga

This arc should be a little lower in rating but since "Nothing Happened", it gets a bump.

Rating: 8/10

Summit War Saga

This feels like the Naruto Great Ninja War arc. As I was watching, I can't seem to be weirded out by the number of episodes ahead. This war seems like the end but it's not, this is the last arc before the timeskip. Stakes are high, really emotional on different levels, overall amazing.

Rating: 10/10

Fish-Man Island Saga

Here we saw improvements from the crew. Love all the power-ups. The arc is nice but it's hard to rate this higher due to the better arcs on the list.

Rating: 6/10

Dressrosa Saga

There's a tournament, and there are new reveals and alliances. Pretty nice arc.

Rating: 7/10

Whole Cake Island Saga

The design is nice and bright. We have an overpowered enemy. There are so many things moving around and there are really nice pick ups and power-ups. Cool.

Rating: 7/10

Wano Country Saga

I thought that this arc is pretty slow but when I start reading it thoroughly, I can't just put down the manga. There's so much happening, I'm loving the risks, all the trauma it all cause, the enemies, the twists and turns. Massive 10 for sure.

Rating:  10/10

Final Saga - we are in this arc and it's just the start.

I enjoy anime and manga for sure. Since this is a pretty long watch, I recommend only watching the first few arcs, and when you feel like it's already dragging, switch to the manga until the end - I recommend switching back to the anime to fully enjoy the fight scenes.

Yes, the Strawhat crew journey is really good. One Piece is a good watch, but it's not perfect. There are bad pacing, and dragging chapters but once you get through it, it gets really better.

So, I'm already caught up with the big three and it's fantastic, totally worth it. I started with Naruto, then, watched several other animes, then Bleach and One Piece.

I'm a hardcore Naruto fan for sure. But after watching all of the big three, I believe One Piece is better. Don't get me wrong, Naruto is really good in its own way. One Piece is a lil bit better, then Naruto, then Bleach.

One Piece is an adventure. Don't rush it. Watch it at your own pace. Enjoy every moment, and cry when it gets really emotional. Be angry and clap back, laugh at their silliness, and learn as you go along. It's a really long and nice ride. Have a nice day.
